ARTichoke is unique art gallery and gift boutique located at 1012 East Fortification Street in Belhaven (in the He’ART of the Haven). Next to the fabulous house painted by Patrick Grogan.
They have some of the most fantastic LOCAL art by Mississippi and Jackson natives. Everything is handcrafted including the candles and body products, which are made on site. Handcrafted jewelry using natural gemstones and silver or copper. There are also several antiques pieces available. Several artists are members of the Craftsmen’s Guild of Mississippi.
With a focus on outstanding craft items, ARTichoke has an unusual selection of one-of-a-kind gifts and original paintings. A brief listing of their artists include: Tony Davenport, Michelle Campbell, Lenore Barkley, Juliet Johnston, Travis Stinson, Brenda Wolf, Jennifer Owens, Brother Shambe’, George Miles, Captain Critter and many more.
ARTichoke is very dedicated to the community hosting several fund raising events (i.e. American Cancer Society, Stewpot, Freinds of Mississippi State Hospital). ARTichoke offers classes in various mediums and children’s art camps throughout the summer.
In late July 2007, ARTichoke was presented the Best New Development Award at the Main Street Annual Meeting from the Greater Belhaven Neighborhood Foundation.
ARTichoke closed its doors in February 2009.
