Ayer Hall-Jackson State University

Built in 1903, Ayer Hall is the oldest structure on the campus of Jackson State University and was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.  Along with the Margaret Walker Alexander National Research Center, it houses the Fannie Lou Hamer National Institute on Citizenship and Democracy, the Afro-Cuban Research Institute, and the Veterans of the Mississippi Civil Rights Movement.

Its museum and exhibit spaces are dedicated to the 20th Century African-American experience and are free and open to the public.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
