New location planned in Belhaven next to McDade’s “14” Market.
Best of Jackson Blurb
If it weren’t for all the other people who keep Basil’s crowded during lunch hour, we’d think the JFP staff kept them in business. The panini sandwiches are heavenly, with one of the best veggie options we’ve ever had. (No salad on bread here.) We also love the prepared penne, butterfly and rotini pastas, and often get double orders, or even triple. The deviled eggs add a bit of a southern flare to an other-wise urban-Italian lunch experience that offers a yin to the owner’s other popular restaurant, Roosters, a meat-heavy joint down the Fondren Corner hall. And it’s fun to sit outside Fondren Corner when it’s not too hot. They also have a peanut butter and banana sandwich if you must. We tend to pass on that one! — Donna Ladd
