Imagine a Mississippi where obesity is no longer one of our greatest issues but a place that embraces biking, walking & running infrastructure as a way to better our health, our communities, economic development and quality of life. What if Mississippi motorists embraced the true spirit of southern hospitality while behind the wheel? Imagine roads, sidewalks & public transit that supported everyone’s transportation options whether by need or by choice. Imagine a Mississippi where you can walk out your front door to see children safely playing, where you can walk any where you want, where you can get on your bike & just ride! No matter how often you “cycle”, if you believe in these things, you deserve to have your voice heard; after all, a more pedestrian and bicycle friendly state benefits everyone!
Bike Walk Mississippi (BWM), headquartered in Jackson, is Mississippi’s only state-wide bicycle & pedestrian advocacy group working alongside: legislatures, businesses, non-profits, schools, groups & individuals to speak out for the needs of bicyclists and pedestrians across the state. Bike Walk MS believes in better & safer roads for ALL users and seeks to improve the quality & availability of existing facilities & programs. Mississippians need to provide more demand for better sidewalks/cross-walks, better infrastructure & public transportation options that will lead to decreased oil dependence & help put Mississippi on the “road” to better health. BWM offers grass-roots support to citizens across the state to make their voices heard!
