In 1991 when the need for a performing arts group in the Brandon area became overwhelming, Denver Wilson, (former President of the Brandon, Mississippi Chamber of Commerce) advertised in the newspaper for people interested in creating a theatre group. He got more than he bargained for and now the Black Rose Theatre is now a non-profit organization, which puts on five productions every year.
