CONTACT the CrisisLine
CONTACT the Crisis Line volunteers have been answering the telephones 24/7 since 1971. This confidential, anonymous crisis line is nationally accredited and is known as a ministry of listening and availability. If you are lonely, depressed, grieving, or thinking of suicide; if you are in a bad relationship or trying to sort through a decision, call 601-713-HELP (4357) to find someone who cares, who will listen and not judge, and who will help you find your own answers. The volunteers also make referrals to community resources if that is appropriate.
CONTACT Reassurance is an important service to the community as well-our volunteers place a daily call (7 days/week) to elderly or disabled persons who live alone. It provides both a safety check and a friendly chat. If the person doesn’t answer, the volunteer follows up with a call to a designated, agreed-upon relative, friend or neighbor of the client, or, if necessary, calls emergency personnel to go and check on them. Call the office, 601-713-4099 to sign up for this service.
All of CONTACT’s services are free of charge!
CONTACT also operates a statewide Spanish-language crisis line, CONTACTO Linea de Crisis: In the Jackson Metro area: (601)713-4357, or toll-free (MS only): 1-866-322-9832
