Fenians

Fenian’s has the best patty melt in town, and you can’t go wrong with any of their appetizers. They have excellent chicken tenders and fish and chips, along with fried mushrooms and pickles. But try their dippities, which are potato with fried cheese and jalapeno. Or try the scotch egg, which is a hard-boiled egg wrapped in sausage and deep fried. (Listen, this is bar food, not health food—if a scotch egg sounds strange to you now, let me ask you again when you’ve got your drunk on Friday evening after a long week in the information mines.) There are also hard-to-find, traditional Irish dishes like their boxties, which other patrons have told me are excellent. Fenians is an Irish Pub style bar located in Jackson, Mississippi. Featuring a fare of traditional Irish food and a variety of beers including Guinness and Harp on tap, Fenians provides a great neighborhood pub feel for locals and travelers. Free music is available on just about every night, with Thursday nights being reserved for traditional Irish/Celtic music.

What Entertainment to Expect

Monday nights Fenian’s hosts their karaoke night voted first place two years running in the Jackson Free Press Best of readers poll. This karaoke night rises above the rest because of the diversity, involvement, and support of the audience.

Tuesday nights is open mic night. The list begins at 4pm so call early and get your name on the list...it fills up quick. The Fenian’s open mic is incredibly diverse with acoustic singer/songwriters, comedians, rock bands, and the occasional poet. Anything goes and the audience is receptive.

Wednesday, Thursday Friday and Saturday are no cover live music from local and regional acts. Everything from bluegrass to rock, gypsy jazz to folk - you’ll see it here at one of the most intimate venues in Jackson.

Thursday night is Irish night with world-class Celtic and traditional Irish music accompanied by the moves of the Jackson Irish Dancers. Enjoy with a fresh draft Guiness!

Sundays see the occassional Ceili, an Irish event for the whole family during the afternoon hours. Keep an eye on our website for times.

Our Kitchen

Fenian’s has won the Jackson Free Press Best Of award for Best Late Night Bar Food two years running. With a kitchen open til midnight, Fenian’s serves one of the best meals in town late night featuring traditional Irish dishes, salads, sandwiches and traditional bar food.

Specialty Dishes

Fenian’s is the only place in town to get a traditional Irish boxty. A boxty is a potato pancake filled with a hearty meal and often topped with additional fixin’s. Try their Chili Cheese Boxty or their Irish Stew Boxty. For veggie lovers, the Vegetable Boxty satisfies with a mixture of sauteed mushrooms, bell pepper, tomatoes, black olives and more with provolone cheese and topped with marinara sauce. Delicious!
