Fondren
Those who are searching for the perfect role model for urban life should look no further than the Fondren District. My wife and I have been living here for nearly three years now, and we absolutely love it. Our neighborhood is culturally and economically diverse, and most of us get along (except for one crazy couple down the street, but even they help keep things, uh, interesting). We can give our boy Charlie a wagon ride and be assured of seeing friends at nearly every intersection. It’s a great place for him to grow up, and a great place for his artist parents to remain kids. And it just keeps getting better.
From hip galleries and shops to great food and coffee, the Fondren District slaps the naysayers of Jackson’s urban renewal upside the head, then takes them for red beans and rice and a beer. We’re stayin’.
