Fondren Theatre Workshop
Fondren Theatre Workshop was founded in 2003 by Fondren residents Denise Halbach, John & Diana Howell, Sam Sparks, and Boyd Campbell for the purpose of creating a theatre community, with an emphasis on sharing the creative process as well as the art created. FTW is committed to providing quality theater experiences for the residents of Jackson, MS, and the surrounding metropolitan area and providing for the training and education of actors, directors and others involved in theater productions by providing an opportunity to demonstrate and improve their skills through participation in theatrical productions. FTW is further committed to cultural contribution which promotes the growth of the dynamic, urban Fondren Community as well as to the quality of life for its private citizens, businesses, and patrons.
FTW hosts an annual New Play Project each summer which highlights the writing talents of local and regional playwrights, and also co-produces events with other local theatre groups, including Chimneyville Readers Theatre and Off Kilter Comedy Troupe.
FTW does not have a permanent facility, but has produced plays and events in several locations, including The Cedars Historic Home, The Rainbow Cooperative Plaza, The Pix-Capri Theatre, Duling Auditorium, The Hewes Room at New Stage Theatre, Lemuria Dot.Com Annex, and Hal & Mals, among others.
