It’s no great secret that Mississippi has some of the unhealthiest people in the U.S. We rank at the bottom of the barrel for obesity, heart disease, diabetes and a plethora of other health problems.

The good news is that many of us are taking control of our health, being proactive participants in keeping ourselves well instead of simply reacting and treating illnesses. To us, wellness means living a life in balance. We watch what we eat, searching out organic alternatives to big-box supermarkets and mega-corporate food manufacturers. We exercise regularly, whether that’s simply taking the time to walk a bit every day, hitting the gym hard, or learning how to breathe properly in a yoga class. We also know the value of relaxation in this crazy, fast-paced world, and aren’t averse to spending time and money for a little pampering.
