Heather Spencer

Heather Spencer died on Sept. 11, 2009, at the hands of her boyfriend George Bell III, who beat her to death with a flashlight in the home of his mother Robbie Bell in North Jackson. Three months earlier, Bell had beaten Spencer with a hammer, but the police did not arrest him until after he killed his girlfriend. Spencer is now an inspiration for groups and individuals to raise awareness about domestic abuse in Mississippi. (See Heathers Tree)
