Shopping at its Best!
Located in the heart of Northeast Jackson, Highland Village is the place to go for shopping that is unique and trendy. With 49 retail shops, this shopping center has an incredible variety of local artists and entrepreneurs. Not only is there so much shopping to explore, you can also check out the village’s three full-service salons, three 3 yummy restaurants or that AWESOME drive-thru coffee shop inside the red Double-Decker bus. Not only Shopping at its best, Highland Village is Jackson at its best.

One could easily dismiss Highland Village’s window shopping as boutique shopping, but the sunshine without the tacky big-box front doors can actually heal depression and increase sex drive, as my husband well knows. If you’ve got a full day for retail therapy, hit the Fondren District where shopping goes from square footage to square mileage, and there are choices for every budget. Think Rooster’s to Walker’s and NUTS to Tree House. The only thing missing from these shop windows is a chocolate-and-wine-by-the-glass concept. Now someone, make that happen, and we’ll also have the cure for joint and arthritis pain.

Highland Village actually is the best place to window shop in Jackson—if only to see how the other half lives. I can’t count the days I’ve spent wandering in front of their cluster of well-coiffed storefronts stuffing my cold, working hands inside my pockets as I peer longingly in the window wishing that rabbit-trimmed cashmere sweater was covering my cold and rough exterior. Yes, it is rather Dickens and self-flagellating. But, the martinis at Bravo! later on make it all better.

Driving north on I-55 Frontage Road, it is difficult not to hang a right into the lot of Highland Village. With 45 storefronts there daring the next passerby to resist the eye-candy that inevitably awaits behind every pane of glass, it is nearly impossible to resist.
The sculpture, gazebo, bubbling fountain and ever-blooming vegetation are just added perks to coerce Jacksonians to take a stroll, look for that little happy you’ve been meaning to get a dear friend or, even better, that something you know you well deserve. From the hand-crafted toys straight out of the crayon-box hues at Old Tyme Commissary to the freshest designer trends at Inside Out, the window displays are not to be rivaled. Highland Village truly is window shopping at its best!
