Mission: To empower disadvantaged Hinds County citizens to become self-reliant and realize their full potential. Hinds County Human Resource Agency (HCHRA) is a public, nonprofit community action agency created by the Hinds County Board of Supervisors in 1976. HCHRA is part of a state and national coalition of community action agencies, whose goals are to eradicate poverty in local communities. Our Agency serves eligible, disadvantaged residents of Hinds County through programs and services that foster economic empowerment and self-reliance. HCHRA is funded by public and private support, as well as through community and federal grants.
