JFP Chick Ball
JFP Chick Ball
The first Chick Ball, conceived by the Jackson Free Press, occurred in 2005 in the Red Room at Hal & Mals. The Chick Ball calls on women artists, musicians, organizers and volunteers to present an evening of music, art and fashion to benefit the Center for Violence Prevention in Pearl, an organization that helps abused women and families. The third annual Chick Ball will take place the Thursday after Mother’s Day (the emerging traditional date) at Hal & Mal’s Red Room. The cover charge is intentionally low, in order to draw a wide variety of people who otherwise cannot attend charity functions. The cover charge is $5, $10 in order to be in the drawings throughout the night for door prizes donated by local Jackson businesses.
The 2007 Chick Ball is expected to be the biggest, yet, and is adding a number of components including contests for Shinest Outfit (crowning the Bling Diva), Best Hat and Hottest Guy.
Those who want to help, volunteer, donate or help sponsor the 2007 event should e-mail Andi Agnew at andi.agnew (at) gmail (dot) com.
