Few things are more southern than a mint julep, and for a truly authentic-yet-creative dining experience, Julep does it right. I don’t know where else in Jackson you can find pimiento cheese fritters—fried balls of “miner cheese” with a spicy comeback dipping sauce. We do love our dipping sauces down here! The most popular and addictive item on the menu is Julep’s slightly non-traditional honey-rosemary fried chicken. You can also get it grilled, but why ever would you do that? The shrimp and grits are available every day, but the dish is a special favorite for the champagne brunch goers. The burgers are unique, too—you can even get a tuna burger if you wish. If you aren’t a mint julep drinker, don’t worry. The martini list is full of tasty libations for every palate, and the wine list is impressive yet affordable. And if you partied all night but forgot to eat, Julep serves until 1 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays to satisfy those late-night munchies. Ages 21+ after 10:30 p.m.
