Kevin Vandenbroek
Kevin Vandenbroek has spent over a half-century in the Communications Industry. He first met Lyndon Baines Johnson while representing the Cub Scouts in the fall of 1960. At ten years of age, his political fate was sealed when he successfully removed the gold-plated Bulova watch from the soon-to-be Vice President’s wrist while standing in a line to shake the burly Texan’s hand.
Masquerading as the first teenager to say a truly obscene thing on all-three television networks at the same time during live coverage of the 1968 Republican Convention in Miami, he was the first to break the “language barrier” on national TV.
He came to Jackson, MS in 1980 to begin working at WZZQ-FM, but resigned in protest when the station changed format and went “Country.”
After many years in the News business, he was appointed Press Secretary for Governor Ray Mabus.
In the 90’s, he left Mississippi. Since then he’s lived in Indiana, Michigan, Iowa and Pennsylvania. He founded the Internet radio station WZZQ102,com, which broadcasts deep tracks Classic Rock.
This Dearborn, Michigan-native currently enjoys faxing, gardening and “looking into things.”
