Lil McKinnon-Hicks
Lil McKinnon-Hicks was awarded 3rd place in the 2010 “Best of Jackson” category: “Local Jewelry Designer”.
Her “Lil McKH” line of jewelry is available online at www.LilMcKHJewelry.com.
Lil’s jewelry is handcrafted piece-by-piece in her own solo-studio located above an old railroad depot that now houses Hal & Mal’s, a brewery and blues club in downtown Jackson, 200 Commerce Street.
When asked about her work, she says, “While every piece is different, they all have one thing in common: Whether you choose to wear them for a single season or several generations, they’re to be worn, lived in, and delighted in every time you put them on.”
Lil has studied both goldsmithing and silversmithing at William Holland School of Lapidary Arts, Young Harris, GA, and at Wild Acres, Little Switzerland, NC; as well as with nationally renowned artists Ken Bova of Bozeman, MT; Napoleon Jones-Henderson of Boston, MA, and Jim Richardson of Athens, GA. She has also studied with various members of the Craftsmen’s Guild and the Mississippi Gem & Mineral Society.
Lil’s work is currently available through the Craftsmen’s Guild of Mississippi, the National Ornamental Metal Museum (the only institution in the Americas devoted to the conservation and advancement of fine metal work) and shown through galleries in Mississippi, Kentucky, Iowa and Tennessee.
