Que Sera Sera

2801 N. State St., 601-981-2520

Sit on the patio. Ask for the award-winning gumbo, red beans and rice, or fried pickles. With runner-up positions in Best Fries, Best Burger Best Champagne Brunch, Best Hangover Food and Best and Sexiest Bartender in 2008. Que Sera has something for everyone.

The first meal I ever ate in Jackson was at Que Sera, we sat outside, despite sweltering post-Katrina September heat, because we couldn’t resist the inviting tables and umbrellas on the patio. My escort insisted I try the fried pickles and order the red beans and rice. (He couldn’t talk me into the gumbo, though he swears by it, as do our readers. If I were to like any kind of gumbo, I’m sure it would be Que Sera’s.) I’m ashamed to say I was too weak for the andouille sausage my first time around, but I’ve worked my palate up to it on my subsequent visits. With runner-up positions in Best Fries, Best Burger, Best Champagne Brunch, Best Hangover Food and not only the Best, but also the Sexiest Bartender, there’s something for everyone at this gem of a restaurant. - Margaret Cahoon (Multiple JFP Best of Jackson awards, 2003-2007)
