Rainbow Tougaloo Garden
The Tougaloo-Rainbow Sustainable Garden will produce high quality food for the Tougaloo educational community and Rainbow Natural Grocery cooperative community.
The garden will demonstrate community, civic engagement and organic, sustainable agriculture.
We intend this garden to be a place of beauty, joy and sharing with the outdoor hands-on classroom inspiring additional sustainable community projects.
The garden got started on May 17, 2008.
DIRECTIONS: Enter Tougaloo College through the main gate. Take the first left. Follow the road to the end of the pavement and turn right. Just before the concrete dorm in the sky, turn left into the woods and follow the road a short distance to a place to park. You are at the garden.
TO GET INVOLVED: Call Michael Gentry the garden coordinator at 601-573-7529. He will be able to tell you when the next gardening session is and if there is anything you should bring.
HOW IT WORKS: Everyone who contributes to the garden can share in the harvest. There is a log book of hours you garden. That determines your share of the harvest. You can also contribute your labor directly to the Community Engagement Program of Tougaloo College or the produce department of Rainbow Natural Grocery Cooperative.
