Robbie Bell
Robbie Bell is the mother of George Bell III, who is serving a life sentence for killing his girlfriend Heather Spencer Sept. 11, 2007. A former executive for the Mississippi Business Journal, Bell came under intense fire because she did not call the police with Spencer dead in her house. She was initially arrested as an accessory, but authorities had to drop the charge due to laws in the state of Mississippi that require evidence that the accessory took “affirmative” action to further a crime. Her actions, or non-actions, have sparked a conversation about whether Mississippi should pass a Good Samaritan law.
The Jackson Free Press previously had named Bell one of the Chicks We Love in 2006 due to her professionalism in organizing local events honoring women, but changed its mind after the murder of Spencer.
