Sonny’s began as a family-owned business in Gainesville, Fla., in 1968. The chain came to Jackson in 1978, and there is an additional location in Brandon that has been in operation since the early 1990s. Since then, barbecue lovers have been looking to Sonny’s for their signature hardwood smoked ribs with lots of sauce. Sonny’s also offers smoky barbecued chicken, and you can get your pork or beef brisket pulled or sliced. The most popular item on the menu is the Baby Back Ribs, and popular side items include sweet potatoes and macaroni and cheese.
