The Hot Tamales are a local group made up of 6 women and are known for their harmonies and eclectic but traditional sound. Many of the woman that comprise the Hot Tamales can be recognized from their solo performances around Jackson as well as with other local groups including: Wooden Finger, the Scramblers, the Dixie Nationals, Sound Wagon, St. Brigid, Alley & the Housecats, Soundwagon and Swing de Paris.
From singing gospel tunes together on Magee’s back porch to their debut performance at the 2008 Chick Ball at Hal & Mal’s, the Tamales have continued to make their presence known all over Mississippi since. In the words of the Tamales, you can enjoy the Old time traditional mountain ballads, folk tunes and eclectic originals all stirred up and wrapped into a tasty Americana treat..
