Waterland
Waterland Amusement Park was formally located in Ridgeland between Highway 51 and Ridgewood Rd right off the County Line Road exit when you got to 51 going north on the right. There is basically a large parking lot there now that is used to store spare cars for several of the dealerships around.
They had a single drop slide where you rode a plastic boat of sorts and skipped across the water at the end. A “lazy river” type of ride that had about 10-15 small round pools of water connected together by chutes which dropped down a hill. Their wave pool was fairly large, and they also had a neat Kiddie area complete with water cannons, etc.
The only existing memory of Waterland left is a dual chute large blue twisting slide which can be found at Rapids on the Reservoir now.
Yes it was a sad for many in Ridgeland/Madison/North Jackson when they closed down. I believe they shut down around 1990.-Jason Meeks
